COMMUNICATION

By striking down IPC Section 497 as unconstitutional and declaring adultery as no offence recently on September 27, 2018, the Supreme Court will set in a highly undesirable trend in the society. The society is already tottering and withdrawal of the fear of law will give licence to amorous relationship in India. This will lead to more domestic violence, family feud, crime and break-ups. Are we going back to the wild primitive society? A law cannot be divorced of moral dimensions. It is a very strange judgement given in a hurry before CJI Dipak Misra retires. God save us.

In India, as on date, we have 3.3 crore pending cases and the Supreme Court itself has an outstanding of about 58,000 cases. Instead of wasting the highest Court’s valuable time on such frivolous issues which can wait further, more important issues which involve life and death of the petitioners should be taken up.

I would request the Central Government to file a petition against the judgement.
