Press Release

BSNL employees are rightfully demanding Justice

We, the Joint Platform of Central Trade Unions, have come to know the non- executive employees of BSNL are planning to launch agitations to press their long pending demands. They had a massive dharna at Jantar Mantar on 7th July and resolved to take up campaign forward. They have every right to do so.

We are witness to the discriminatory policy followed by the Central Government towards BSNL in not offering them even a level playing field with other private operators. the BSNL has not been allowed even 4G service when its competitors are boasting of upgrading to 5G services! This has resulted into lakhs of customers shifting to other private service providers. As a consequence, the employees are made to wait for their legitimate demands of wage revision, promotions etc.

The Central Government had formed a Wage Negotiating Committee in 2018 which had reached a consensus on 27th July 2018. Yet the settlement is not being implemented. This gives a lie to the oft-repeated government slogan of "sab ka saath, sab ka vikas, sab ka prayas".

We demand that the Central Government drop it’s openly pro-coperate policy of killing any competition to them and deal with BSNL at least on a level playing field.

We demand that the

  • Government should accept and allow the implementation of wage settlement recommendation of wage committee of employees with retrospective effect.
