CPI Reiterates Its Demand for JPC Probe into Rafale Deal

The National Secretariat of the Communist Party of India issued today (on July 5, 2021) the following statement reiterating its demand for a thorough probe into the Rafale fighter jet deal by a joint parliamentary committee (JPC):

The Communist Party of India has been opposing the enlisting of a private firm into the Rafale deal at the exclusion of the public sector Hindustan Aeronautics Ltd (HAL), which has the required capabilities. The French public prosecution services (PNF) has now ordered a probe into the deal suspecting corruption and favouritism.

The Party therefore reiterates its demand for a probe into the Rafale fighter jet deal by a joint parliamentary committee (JPC) so that the nation knows the truth.

When the deal is between two countries, the Party feels the silence of India and the Prime Minister over the French probe speaks a lot. It seems that the government of India has something to hide. Only a thorough probe by a JPC will bring out the truth and the role of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Party sincerely feels.
