But recently it came up in the context of the police brutal murder of George Floyd in the US and in India in the context of Delhi Police brutality and inhumanity with injured young men during anti-Muslim violence. The functioning of the Indian police is once again under discussion at the national and international level in the case of the murder of 62-year-old Jayaraj and his 32-year-old son Benix by police torture in Sathankulam town of Tuticorin district of Tamil Nadu.

  As a retaliatory measure consequent to ‘Galwan Valley’ aggression, the Government of India invoked Sec.69A of the Information Technology Act, 2000 and banned 59 smart phone applications which include the most popular ‘ TikTok’, ‘Cam Scanner’ etc. The reasons cited was that these apps pose threat to sovereignty and integrity of India as per credible inputs received by the government.
