Fiji’s Prime Minister, Sitiveni Rabuka, referred to the International Criminal Court for Crimes Against Humanity.

A new Fijian non-governmental group calling itself the Affected Group of Citizens of Fiji (AGCF) has reported the Prime Minister of Fiji, who was the first coup instigator in 1987, to the Office of the Prosecutor of the International Criminal Court (ICC) for crimes against the Rome Statute. Fiji is a signatory to the Rome Statute.

The accusations relate to crimes against humanity including persecution, in support of a policy of apartheid, Rabuka allegedly committed in 1987 against the Indo-Fijian population and which he continued since then through holding influential positions in Fiji, and again as Prime Minister since 2022.
