Bunker Roy, who turns 80 today on 30 June, 2025 has been among the most creative and inspiring personalities of voluntary organizations all over the world. During the last six decades he has contributed so much innovative development work that it is adequate for several lifetimes, and several of the ideas he took forward became trend-setters for important development initiatives.
After education in the Doon School and St Stephens college (and in addition becoming a squash champion), Bunker took the plunge towards very different and at times very difficult challenges in development work in villages of Ajmer district in Rajasthan, sometimes climbing down steep well in the efforts to repair and improve them.
