Abstract
The UGC Draft Regulations, 2025 seek to supersede the existing UGC 2018 Rules for the Minimum Qualifications for Appointment and Promotion of Teachers and Academic Staff in Universities and Colleges. The 2025 Draft fails to explain or to provide the reasons for bringing up the new regulations. This has given rise to many doubts and apprehensions among the academia about the intent and motivation behind the new draft regulations.
