The term Socialism is used in a variety of senses: guild socialism, Fabian socialism, anarchist socialism, national socialism, ‘socialism with Chinese characteristics’, market socialism etc. However, let us stress at the outset that the socialism of this paper, used in the sense of Marx, has little in common with these ‘socialisms’. Also let us note that what passes for socialism in the popular parlance has little to do with socialism as used here. In the popular (…)

Christmas Diplomacy: Peace, Prejudice & Untold Stories | R P Pradhan, Chhavi Rathi
29 January 2021by R P Pradhan; Chhavi Rathi
Introduction
Christmas has always been a joyous festival and occasion for hope and resurrection. Christmas tree as a centre piece attraction of the occasion in its triangular shape, as per Christian belief, symbolizes trinity — the Christian concept of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit being in unison. St. Boniface converted the northern German Frankish tribes to Christianity in 8th century using a triangular shape fir tree. Evolving from here, (…) -
A singular Nobel? | C. K. Raju
29 January 2021, by C. K. RajuIntroduction
On the common story, science is at war with all religions. This neglects the fact that present-day (Western) science developed under the hegemonic rule of the church. Consequently, present-day (Western) science is influenced by church theology. For example, we still speak of Newton’s “laws” of motion on the belief that the world is governed by eternal laws of nature. This belief is NOT scientific on Popper’s criterion of refutability or falsifiability. In fact, it is (…) -
Excerpt from The Radiant Future | Alexander Zinoviev (1978)
29 January 2021[Coming from a poor peasant family, a participant in World War II, Alexander Zinoviev in the 1950s and 1960s was one of the symbols of the rebirth of philosophical thought in the Soviet Union. After the publication in the West of his book "Yawning Heights", in 1978 —in which he criticized certain Soviet party members (a crime at that time) — he was expelled from the country and deprived of Soviet citizenship. He returned to Russia in 1999.] __ornement.png__

The Wonder That’s The Indian Farmer | TJS George
22 January 2021, by T J S GeorgeIMPRESSIONS
The farmers’ agitation has become something of an Indian phenomenon. There is no dominant leader or party at the helm. Yet they carry on with sustained fervour, clear about who they are and what they deserve. They are true sons of toil working on tons of soil.
(A New York newspaper reported a mining disaster in 1941 with the heading “Sons of toil under tons of soil.” Around the same time Bombay’s Free Press Journal used the same headline, written by journalist (…) -

Brushing aside the suggestions of left and democratic parties, even the proposition of the CPI(ML) liberation, the CPI(M), big brother of the Indian Commuist parties has decided to enter into alliance with the Congress with the sole purpose of ensuring the defeat of Mamata Banerjee. The reason for opposing Mamata is debateable and cannot be justified from the Marxist point of view. It is the whim of some top state leaders of the party that prompted it to oppose (…) -
Transition From Divider-In-Chief To Sagacious Unifier | Vijay Kumar
22 January 2021, by Vijay Kumar“The Democracy has prevailed”, common headline, chosen coincidently by “The Guardian” and “The New York Times”, published from the opposite ends of Atlantic is an unmistakable pointer to the immense sense of relief to Democrats and Liberals of the world by Bidden – Harris Inauguration. The administering of oath by the Chief Justice John Roberts to Joseph Bidden as the 46th President of the US, preceded by the administering of oath to Kamala Harris as the 49th Vice President by Senior Judge (…)

The unpredictable impact of Trump’s post-defeat temper on Georgia’s January 6 Senate runoffs intrigues me as I wait and watch in Illinois. Also fascinating, and of course noticed by many, is the similarity in the political disputes that India and the U.S. witness.
Moreover, there is at least partial similarity, also marked by many, in the styles of Modi and Trump, both of whom seem to enjoy the mic, the camera, and theatrics.
Not all the (…)
