Burdwan Episode
The of grenade explosion in the first floor of a rented house at Khagragarh in West Bengal's Burdwan town on October 2, 2014, in between the Durga Puja and Iduzzuha festivals, is alarming for many obvious reasons. The two persons killed in the blast, identified as Shakil Ahmed alias Shakil Gazi and Swapan alias Sovan Mandal, are believed to have links with the Jamaat-ul-Mujahideen of Bangladesh. Their widows—Gulshana Bibi alias Rajia, Shakil's wife, and Alima Bibi alias (…)

The BJP has been brought to power at the Centre by the Indian corporates in place of the Congress-led UPA-2, which is a decaying force, to extend the capitalist rule of the Indian neo-liberal exploitative system. Narendra Modi, the head of the BJP's National Campaign Committee, as chosen by the RSS, had been fielded in this battle as an Iron Man or Vikash Purush. The centre-stage was set by the BJP/RSS and their allies of the bourgeois ruling class with the following demands:
a) The (…)

The birth centenary of the exemplary parliamentarian and extraordinary Left leader, Tridib Chowdhuri of the RSP, was observed last December, that is, six months ago, without any major celebration in West Bengal, leave aside the country as a whole. We remember that outstanding Revolutionary Socialist with the following article by a distinguished leader of his party and erstwhile Member of the Lok Sabha.

The following, according to the author, is a first evaluation of the people's mandate in the West Bengal Assembly Election 2011.
It is my first observation that the Left Front lost the battle in 2011 (and) so the Trinamul won the battle. The Trinamul is not a positive alternative to the Left Front. The Trinamul is not a party, but a conglomeration of destitutes from different parties. People did not vote for the Trinamul but they voted against the CPI-M or better to say against the (…)

The following article was written on the occasion of the national anti-imprialist seminar, organised by the RSP in New Delhi on August 9, on the role of the Left in the present situation. It was not presented there but the author gave it for publication in Mainstream. Regrettably it could not be used earlier due to space constraints.	—Editor
